Friday April 16th is National Healthcare Decisions Day! This day stresses the importance of advance care planning and talking with your loved ones about your health care wishes. Advance care planning includes an advance directive (a.k.a. a living will, a written document that explains what types of treatment you do or do not want) and appointing a healthcare power of attorney (someone who makes healthcare decisions for you if you are unable to speak for yourself). It’s so important to plan ahead so we can ensure our wishes are respected.
