SAGE Eldercare celebrated the hundreds of volunteers who are the heart of the non-profit organization at its annual luncheon July 19.
Honoring 50 years of Meals on Wheels at SAGE, the event was dedicated to Joan Hoffmann, a 47-year SAGE Eldercare volunteer, who passed away in early 2016. She was the longest serving Meals on Wheels volunteer in United States’ history.
“SAGE Eldercare was started by volunteers in 1954 and continues to exist because of its strong base of volunteers. They were, and continue to remain the foundation of what SAGE does,” said Marianne Kranz, Director of Volunteers for SAGE. “Meals on Wheels volunteers are our eyes and ears out there every day making sure our older neighbors are okay. It’s so much more than a meal.”
The luncheon was sponsored by PNC Wealth Management, Home Care Assistance, and The Grand Summit Hotel, where the event took place, and included door prizes and balloon and music entertainment by Zoom the Entertainer.
SAGE Eldercare is always in need of volunteers to keep their client-centered health, social, and support services running smoothly. To learn more about the volunteer opportunities at SAGE, please call Marianne Kranz at 908.598.5514, or email mkranz@sageeldercare.temp312.kinsta.cloud.
