Older adults who attend SAGE Eldercare’s adult day program at the Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center are benefiting from a generous grant of $20,000 from the Jarvie Commonweal Fund.

“We are very grateful to Jarvie for their generous support of our adult day program. The grant will allow us to continue to provide care to older adults who are often living with some form of dementia and need a stimulating social program on a daily basis so their caregivers can remain in the workplace or receive some respite from their caregiving duties,” stated Fred Jenny, Executive Director of SAGE Eldercare.

Designed by leading professionals, SAGE’s Spend-A-Day program offers a day of stimulating, structured activities, individualized to each client’s needs. Often, adult day programs provide a significant cost advantage over other alternatives, such as home care. In addition, more and more medical research is pointing to the benefits of structured social, physical, and cognitive activities for individuals with, or at risk for, memory issues. SAGE’s Spend-A-Day program is staffed by caring, experienced, interdisciplinary professionals including a full-time registered nurse, full-time licensed geriatric social worker, certified dementia practitioners, and access to on-site therapists and off-site medical professionals.
