Spend-A-Day Provides Our Clients with a

Full Day of Activities

Note:  This is a typical day’s schedule meant to serve as an example of what we do at Spend-A-Day.

9:30 AM Morning begins with an informal coffee social and conversation.
10:30 AM Time to stretch! Everyone is encouraged to join in the morning stroll around our indoor walking trail. Staff will assist those who need a hand.
10:45 AM Choose Your Activity.  Book Club – join one of our groups in listening to all-time favorite books on tape.  Topics vary from biography, fiction, non-fiction, and comedy.  Mind Stretchers – Get your mind working with activities that encourage mental stimulation such as word games, trivia, and quizzes.  Cooking/Baking Group – some of our participants enjoy creating a culinary creation from scratch!  Everyone takes part in following the recipe, adding ingredients, and reminiscing about favorite dishes from the past.  Arts & Crafts – take part in creating your own masterpiece with talented staff and volunteers.  Activities include collages, water colors, sculpting, painting and ceramics, just to name a few.
11:45 AM Interactive Games – Adapted for older adults, our interactive games involve light exercise like bowling, golfing, basketball, volleyball or darts.
12:15 PM Lunch is served!  Nutritious hot lunches and a dessert are provided daily.  Particular attention is provided for those with special diets.  A registered dietician monitors individual dietary needs.
1:30 PM Time for another stretch with a stroll around the indoor walking trail.
1:45 PM After Lunch Activities.  Visitors or Entertainers may join us to share in musical entertainment, sing-a-longs, dancing, and pet therapy.  Intergenerational Program – special visits from the youngsters of local daycare centers, nursery schools, elementary, and high schools will spend time with us in activities and/or singing.  Reminiscing Group – Participants enjoy remembering favorite times from their past and sharing stories and fond memories.  Short Trips/Outings – Throughout the month, staff will take a small group to local museums or special area attractions.  May also include lunch out to a favorite restaurant.
2:45 PM Exercise — Time to flex and stretch
3:15 PM Snack and Chat


All that plus:

  • Daily health monitoring by on-site Registered Nurse
  • Referrals to x-ray, dental, ophthalmology offered
  • Access to podiatry, speech, physical and occupational therapies
  • Assistance, if needed, in activities of daily living
  • Assistance with financial arrangements, caregiver support group, and individual counseling sessions available
