Celgene Corporation awarded SAGE Eldercare a generous donation for the Spend-A-Day adult day health center.
Spend-A-Day is the longest-running medical adult day program in New Jersey and serves about 130 families in Union, Essex, Somerset, and Morris counties. Operating Monday through Friday year-round, Spend-A-Day provides cognitive and physical stimulation, health monitoring, access to transportation and health care providers, and social interaction. Daily meals ensure that nutrition and special dietary requirements are met.
“The United States population is aging, there is the increasing threat of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and there are challenges of caregiving and rising cost of care,” said Angela Sullivan, SAGE Executive Director. “This grant helps Spend-A-Day in its aim to offer safe and social environment, and preserve independence and prevent institutionalization for older adults who are disabled or cognitively impaired, while providing thorough support and respite for their caregivers.”
