SAGE Eldercare offers free caregiver support groups – one for spousal caregivers, one for adult children who act as caregivers for their older parents, and one intended for caregivers of someone with Alzheimer’s.

The groups are led by Kathy Larkin, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and SAGE InfoCare Manager. All groups are held at SAGE Eldercare, 290 Broad Street, Summit, and require pre-registration by calling Larkin at 908.598.5509.

Caregiver Support Group for Spouses:

  • 2 – 3:30 pm
  • Every other Monday, May 22 through August 28

Caregiver Support Group for Adult Children:

  • 7 – 8:30 pm
  • Every other Monday, June 5 through August 28

Alzheimer’s New Jersey Caregivers Support Group:

  • 10 – 11:30 am
  • Fourth Tuesday of every month

The Caregiver Support Groups are free and will cover topics such as coping with caregiver emotions and managing stress, navigating care options, and defining our roles as caregivers.

The Alzheimer’s New Jersey Caregivers Support Group provides an opportunity for family members and caregivers to discuss frustrations and trials of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease with others who understand.

“Caregiving can be gratifying, but it is also very challenging. It is important to know that you are not alone with your concerns and questions,” said Larkin. “SAGE’s support groups will give those that help take care of older adults, whether they are a spouse or an adult child, a safe place to discuss their experiences, share ideas, and get emotional support.”
