SAGE Eldercare will host a “Take a Stand to Prevent Falls” forum with Overlook Medical Center on September 21 that will teach how to prevent a fall in and outside of the home, and what to do if a fall happens.

The forum will include a presentation by experts from Overlook Medical Center on pedestrian safety, an “ask-a-pharmacist” session, LifeStation medical alert devices display, and an exercise demo, as well as free balance assessments, bone density screenings, and blood pressure checks.

“SAGE is pleased to host a fall prevention forum as a service to older adults and their caregivers. Fall prevention is an important topic because falls are the leading cause of injuries for older adults. The good news is that injuries are not inevitable. With education such as this forum and precautions, the risk can be reduced, ” said Kathy Bassiacos, SAGE’s Guidance, Planning, and Support (GPS) nurse.

The forum will take place 10 am to 12:30 pm at SAGE, 290 Broad Street, Summit.
