SAGE is hosting free virtual education sessions on Tuesdays during open enrollment 6:00PM-7:30PM. Attendees are asked to come with a prepared list of questions. SAGE Eldercare serves as the SHIP representative for Union County. Staff and volunteers are available for free, personalized, confidential, and objective Medicare counseling regarding program options, claims, billing, appeals and information about programs for people with limited income and resources. The counselors receive ongoing training from the Division of Aging Services, New Jersey Department of Human Services.

SHIP is a state-wide program, administered by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior Affairs, with major funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Sage is the sponsoring organization for the program in Union County.

SHIP counselors do not provide legal advice, sell, recommend, or endorse any specific insurance product, agency, insurance company or HMO. They provide information and assistance so that clients can make their own decisions.
